Membership

We offer a full range of differing membership types to accomodate for your needs. The full list is explained below. See our PRICE LIST for our up to date membership fees.

FULL MEMBERSHIP

Our standard membership type.

As a Full Flying Member, you are able to participate in all flying and social activities of the club. All members are encouraged to participate in all activities in the club which only functions with its volunteer effort to keep fees low for all. All the Instructors are volunteers and your flying training delivered free and all you pay is the cost of the launch and aircraft hire.
There are no restrictions on the amount of flying you do. Simply turn up on a flying day, put your name on the flying list. Daily briefings occur at 0930 so as you get to know the duty teams and they you.  Then fly as much as you wish and become part of the team and the sporting Gliding community!

Any member can also take advantage of special prices on our Holiday Courses which you can use to start or finish off your training or possibly to learn a specialised part of the training syllabus.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP

Junior membership is our concessionary membership rate to those under 21 years of age or under 25 if in full time education (e.g. University, proof of Full time education may be required). Reduced membership and launch fees for those people who may not yet be earning enough to pay the full membership rates and  to encourage young persons to take up the sport.

The minimum age to go solo in a glider is 14, so start learning to fly as young as 13 is a possibility (Height and Weight limitations apply).

All Junior members are encouraged to attend General Meetings and those aged over 18 may also vote.

COUNTRY MEMBERSHIP

A concession is available for those persons that live more than 50 miles (in a direct line) away from Pocklington. This means that you can take advantage of cheaper membership to offset the higher costs of travelling to Pocklington, while still enjoying all the benefits of full membership.

SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP

Social Membership is available for those that do not wish to learn to glide, but would like to take a flight in a glider from time to time. With social membership, you are limited to five flights in any twelve month period.

INSTRUCTOR MEMBERSHIP

A concession is available to our volunteer instructors to help offset the costs of gaining an instructor qualification.

DAY or TRIAL MEMBERSHIP
