TSC 2012  Entertainment Programme

Open To All Competitors, Non Competitors and Visitors

All our Guest Speakers are giving their time, including travelling, totally free of charge to support our charity fund raising for MacMillan. Entry will be purely by “donation to the cause” so you can pay as much or as little as you like.

Please come along and bring freinds and relatives.  We would love to see you there and we hope that there is something for everyone in our programme.

The Quiz Night is once again “All proceeds to MacMillan” as are the raffles at the other events.

All events will start as near 8pm as possible but are dependent on the conditions on the day.

Sunday Evening - 19th August

Flight Lieutenant Jon Trueman“The Pilots of Tomorrow”

By special invitation Jon, from RAF Linton on Ouse, will give an informative presentation on his role training the fast jet pilots of tomorrow. In addition to his fascinating role, with what must be the best view from any office in the world.

Jon is a glider pilot and responsible for liaison between the RAF and the gliding clubs in the Vale of York AIAA. He will brief us on the planned activity of Linton for the rest of the competition period.

Tuesday Evening - 21st August

David Sykes“A Wing and a Wheelchair”

80 years after Amy Johnson’s epic flight most people would consider flying to Australia straightforward, a long flight but “no worries” as they say when you get there!! Unless that is your aircraft has a 27’ flexible wing, a single engine and an open cockpit. Then consider doing it solo and unsupported, then add a wheelchair to the equipment list and you begin to appreciate the challenge David Sykes set himself. David may be paraplegic but that was NOT going to stop him!!

Listen to a griping, fascinating and truly inspiring talk that takes you through the highs and lows, the trauma and the emotions of David’s remarkable 4 month journey, and yes, he is a Yorkshire man, “Ee it were a rite laugh” !!

Wednesday Evening - 22nd August

Keith Woodcock“The Art of Aviation Art”

Keith, a former Chairman of the Guild of Aviation Artists, is probably one of the best known and most accomplished aviation artists in the country today.  He makes both the aircraft of yesteryear and more modern times come to life in his own special way by painting them in the role they were designed for and in their own environment.  Keith’s amazing talk, just like his paintings, brings aviation art alive and makes it very real.

As Keith describes he has both the best and the worst job in the world, “They ask me to illustrate the most beautiful aircraft that have ever flown, and then they point out they have camouflaged them so they can’t be seen”!!

Thursday Evening - 23rd August

Race Night“Hats, Frock and Betting Slips”

Would The Wolds Two Seater Competition ever be the same without our now famous “Night at the Races”?? Study form and back a winner every race.

Friday Evening - 24th August

Quiz Night“It's the taking part that counts”

With so much intellect in one place at one time we just have to have a “Quiz Night” but it’s a “Smart-phone free zone”!! and the “Doc’s” decision is final (cos he knows a fing or two!!)

Saturday Evening - 25th

AugustParty Night“Making the 60s Fab all over again”

After last year’s roof raising Party Night he is back by popular demand.

The one and only Billy Shears will be making the club house once again ring with his re-creation of all that was good about the 60’s & 70’s and more!!
